REPORT ON TWO DAY NATIONAL CONFERENCE

“ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT: THE RECLAMATION, REFORMATION, AND RESILIENCE”

Mariani College organised a two-day national conference on “Atmanirbhar Bharat: The Reclamation, Reformation, and Resilience” on 23rd and 24th September, 2022 in the College Conference Hall. The seminar focused on the Prime Minister’s Self-reliant India campaign. The program started at 10: 00 am with the welcome address by the Principal, Dr Haren Goowalla. The dignitaries of the dias were Prof. Pranjal Bezborah, Dr Dipankar Malakar, Prof. Sanjeeb K. Jena, Prof. Ambika Prasad Pati.

Opening remarks and introduction of the program was given by Prof. Pranjal Bezborah. He highlighted the need for a country like India to focus on self-reliance and overcome the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He discussed the “make in India” initiative which will help the country in strengthening its economy. The dignitaries for the conference were Prof. Debabrata Das, Prof. A Rajmani Singh, Prof. Amrit Pal Singh, Prof. Sanjeeb K Jena. The Chairperson, Prof. Pranjal Bezborah, welcomed all the experts and expressed his gratitude for the College to have hosted such a conference.

The keynote was given by Prof. Kishor Goswami, IIT KGP. He shared that the scope of the self-reliance needs to be redefined as it is bounded with a narrow vision of self-reliance in manufacturing or other economic activities. In the context of the self-reliance in manufacturing or other economic activities. In the context of the self-reliance, there is a conceptual challenge that have been faced is the use of the term “self” in the context of the “diversity”, i.e. the nation.

The dignitaries talked about the various ways in which a society can achieve self-reliance, and helping the nation in its growth. This was followed by the sessions, which started around 11:45 am. The 1st Technical Session was on “Entrepreneurship and Tourism”. The chair of the session was Prof. Rajmani Singh, Manipur University, co-chaired by Prof. Prasanta Sarma, Gauhati University. The Session Coordinator was Dr Munmi Pathak. There were 13 participants in this session, who presented papers on Eco-Tourism, community-based Tourism as a blooming startup for certain communities in Assam. Some of the papers delved on the role of Assam Government in Empowerment for Women Entrepreneurship and analysed the present circumstances of the group.

The 2nd Technical Session was chaired by Amalesh Bhopal, Assam University, and co-chaired by Prof. AP Pati, North Eastern Hill University. The session was titled “Digital India and Start-up India” which was coordinated by Dr Chinmoyee Borpujari. There were 15 participants, who presented on topics ranging from e-recruitment, work form Home, to the impact of digital financial literacy on the quality of life.

The 3rd Technical session was chaired by Prof. SK Jena, Rajeev Gandhi University, and Dr Sankar, Sikkim University. The session coordinator was Alimpiya Bordoloi, Mariani College. There were 11 participants, who presented papers on the challenges of Credit Intermediaries, effectiveness of Micro Credit, impact of self help groups, studies ranging from mega silk production and its marketing to gender-based studies and financial decisions.

The 4th technical session was chaired by Prof. Pushkar Nath and Prof. AP Singh, Gauhati University. The session Coordinator was Dr Munmi Pathak. There were 11 participants who presented papers on topics ranging from diffusion of e-governance to NEP 2020. Some of the studies were also on Judima, a traditional rice wine of Dimasa Tribe.
