Department of Botany, Mariani College was established on 1993, 16 sept. along with the other departments of science stream with single faculty Dr. Anita mozinder Buragohain. Innitially the subject was run with higher secondary classes. Than degree class was start on 1995 with another new faculty member Dr. Bhaskar Buragohain. Later, Dr. Anita Mozinder Buragohain resigned her job and Mrs Bobita Phukan appointed instead of her post. The major class was open in 1999.

At the begining the department run with public money and then funded by Late Rupam Kurmi, the formar MLA, Mariani constituency. Now the department have have four faculty member along with a laboratory bearer. At present Dr. Bhaskar Buragohain, Mrs. Bobita Phukan, Dr. Rajkumar Gohain Baruah and Dr. Rubul Saikia are working as assistant profersor. Sri Bhaben Chetia is our laboratory bearer.
