Profile of Commerce Department
The department of commerce is as ols as the college itself. established in the year 1966, it was a pioneer department functioning since the inception of the college. under the leadeship of eminent personalities like Late Durgeswar Hazarika and Late Niranjan Nath the commerce department found their founders who whole heartedly worked for the betterment and upliftment of the department with meager salaries. However, those two men were assisted by some persons like late Putul Borthakur, Late Bimal Duara and Late Satyendra Goswami but did not continue their services with the college. For varoius reasons they left the college and again the founder contributors were the sole army for the department.
The commerce section has two departments namely the department of Accountancy and the department of Human Resource Management getting its recognition as separate departments under the umbrella of commerce section only in August, 2000. Before that they were treated only as two dinstinctive subjects.
The department offers HS and UG courses under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) and Dibrugarh University repectively. The UG course follows the NEP, 2020.
